FIRM OVERVIEW

Chenault Hammond, P.C., is a full service law firm located in the heart of North Alabama and has been for over seventy years. Chenault Hammond, P.C. was established in 1949 by William L. Chenault, Jr. Mr. Chenault was a sole practitioner until joined by his son, William L. “Billy” Chenault, III in 1974. A few years later, in 1979, Billy’s law school classmate, Stephen V. Hammond, joined the firm after serving for five years as corporate council for Exxon Company USA in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In the over forty years since, our Decatur office has allowed for a practice which easily encompasses the Decatur, Athens, Florence, Huntsville, Cullman, and Birmingham areas. After Billy Chenault’s passing, Chenault Hammond remains anchored by Stephen V. Hammond, who now serves as President. To further grow the practice, the firm brought on attorneys Erick K. Pratt in 2002 followed by Laura Terry Powell in 2011 and most recently Maggie Coan in 2020.
